Ian Pullen - Owner & Lead Trainer

Ian has worked with hundreds of dogs, dozens of breeds, and all varieties of temperament. One of Ian’s passions is working with and educating owners on understanding canine psychology. Ian has a particular interest in supporting the education of other dog trainers and the professionalization of the dog-training industry. He is a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, where he has served on its education and certification committee.

Ian has trained, competed, and titled dogs in AKC Rally Obedience, AKC Canine Good Citizen, and PSA protection dog sport. He served as a volunteer trainer for local law enforcement K-9 units and raised and trained several dogs for law enforcement. He attended the "Train the Trainers" program at The Pawsitive Dog, Boston, MA and the Mount Ida College Canine and Behavior Program.

 
 

Sophia Amerman - Day School Manager & Apprentice Trainer

Sophia was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. After working in child care and then moving to North Carolina, Sophia started her career in animal care as a Veterinary Assistant. Since 2017, she has been dedicated to furthering her education and knowledge of animals. In 2021, she moved to Cape Cod with her husband and fur family. Her dog Wesley inspired her to join The Reliable Dog team, where she is completing the Dog Trainer Fundamentals Program under lead trainer Ian Pullen. This program includes 500+ hours of coursework and hands-on training in foundational obedience. Sophia and her dog Wesley have earned an AKC Trick Dog (Novice) title, and are presently working towards titles in AKC Canine Good Citizen and AKC Trick Dog (Intermediate). When Sophia is not at The Reliable Dog she enjoys drawing and spending time with family.
